Identity for UN Climate Change Conference UK2020

UN Climate Change
Conference UK2020

Challenge:
Brand the 26th UN Climate Change Conference hosted in Glasgow 2020, the largest political summit the UK has hosted in recent history. The task was to inspire the 40,000 attendees of global politicians, negotiators, government representatives, businesses and activists to unite as climate crisis talks took to the world’s stage.

Solution:
A swirling marbled globe illustrates that the climate has no borders, alludes to turbulent weather currents, and reminds us that the climate crisis is a problem that affects us all, no matter which country we call home.

We worked with The Mill to animate the globe, avoiding any recognizable shapes of land. The motion is slow and purposely ethereal, to act as a sober warning of destruction, whilst remaining hopeful that positive action could save our precious planet.

This symbol for climate change has taken on a life of its own as it’s been redrawn and repurposed. Props to the guardian cartoonist Steve Bell...
